DOGGEREL TO SPRING
Winter makes my feet get freezy,
Cold air makes my lungs go wheezy,
Eyes are runny, nose is sneezy,
Woe is me!
I don't chime with wintertime -- it's
Rimy clutch is prime-time crime -- it's
Just too much that such bad climates
Have to be.Yes, I hate winter, it's no wonder --
She and I don't correspond -- her
Parting makes my heart grow fonder
When she's gone.
Singers chanting "wonderland" are
Better banned--it ups my dander--
I can't stand the rancid slander
In that song.Shov'ling snow's an ornery chore, my
Aching back is stiff and sore--I
Finish, then it snows some more! Why?
You tell me!
I can't don enough warm clothes, put
Nine layers on from head to toes, but
Still I'm doggone nearly froze, what
Cruelty! Some of you think cold is "cool," yet
I would wager someday you'll get
Thumped by goosebumps--then bet who'll sweat
With chagrin.
But wait! The foreman of Nature's forum is
Now restorin' warm decorum, es-
Cortin' storms to warrens foreign as
Spring pours in.Suddenly there's no more snowing,
Balmy breezes blithely blowing,
Lilacs bloom, the lawn needs mowing--
Oh, what glee!
Springtime makes my feet all squooshy,
Pollen makes my lungs go whooshy,
Eyes are runny, nose kerCHOOsky.
Woe is me!
